Clipper says the new Cordova 51 is designed to handle the harshest offshore bluewater conditions our coastline can serve up, while treating the owners and guests to onboard luxury and practical elegance. The manufacturer tells us that the latest release from Clipper, due here in 2016, is equally adept as a live aboard passage maker or perfectly suited to weekend cruising and entertaining.
Her layout features a spacious owners suite with sliding access doors for an open and light ambience boasting a true island bed amidships and generous ensuite bathroom with a large shower stall, so you can enjoy your nights at anchorage with no compromise. Your guests will be spoiled with a separate VIP cabin forward including their own ensuite bathroom with separate shower and toilet.
Clipper’s accommodation layout maximises the cabin spaces and delivers a superb two-cabin and double ensuite arrangement so everyone aboard feels like royalty. The new, extra-large opening portholes amidships connect you to the ocean making the Cordova 51 the perfect waterfront apartment at anchor.
The new 51 offers large open areas with a huge entertaining cockpit, extended flybridge overhang, oversized swim platform and single level, indoor saloon and galley arrangement. If you’re entertaining on the aft deck, the rear stainless door and hopper window design opens up the galley and indoors, connecting the entire lower level of this great new model. It's well suited to the Australian boating lifestyle, we're told.
The central lower helm position allows for good vision while cruising and a raised L-shaped dinette to port means you can enjoy cruising together with the skipper for longer passages. There's also a standard starboard helm sliding door so you have easy access to the walk-around decks for ease of docking and anchoring.
The twin Cummins 550 HP QSB diesel engines will cruise comfortably at 17 knots with an estimated top speed of 24 knots. However, with the semi-displacement keeled hull, the 51 will sip on fuel at eight knots using a miserly 26 litres an hour or less, giving great range for long passages.
Clipper says the new Cordova 51 is priced at $1.1950m for hulls 1 to 5.
