Clipper breaks the mould with new Italian design

Clipper is evolving from its trawler past, with a new range of Euro cruisers from designer Patrizio Facheris

Clipper Motor Yachts will launch an exciting new Euro-inspired boat range designed by Patrizio Facheris Yacht and Product Design Studio based in Florida, USA, in coming months.

Dating back to 1977, Clipper is best known for its traditional trawler-style displacement and semi-displacement boats with handcrafted timber joinery. Many of them served a long life in charter fleets in places like Akuna Bay in Sydney, too.

But Clipper Motor Yachts Managing Director, Brett Thurley, said the company was about to progress to an exciting new era in its growth and development using the design nous of vessel virtuoso Patrizio Facheris.

NEW CLIPPERS FROM 35-65 FOOT
Thurley said the new range would encompass a sleek, Euro-styled sedan bridge Hudson Bay model in three versions — the 500S, the 540S and the flagship 640S. There will also be a sedan version starting with the Hudson Bay 350 sedan cruiser.

But a new range of exciting Cordova Motor Yachts, including the 50MY, the 55MY and the 65MY, are said to be the jewels in the crown.

These new-generation Clippers are described as long-range cruisers designed to tackle virtually any sea conditions and deliver their owners in safety and comfort no matter where their destination.

"We will always keep the core elements inherent in the Clipper DNA such as walkaround decks, semi-displacement and keel-protected hull design, shaftdrive diesel technology, long-range economical cruising capacity, and exemplary seakeeping ability," Thurley said.

"However, we have given the range a massive step change in styling and aesthetic direction for the future. The new generation of Clipper Motor Yachts, encompassing both flybridge, sedan bridge and sedan vessels, will be cutting-edge contemporary compared with the Clippers of the past."

PATRIZIO FASHERIS DESIGN
The new range of Clippers has evolved from a meeting with Patrizio Facheris Yacht and Product Design Studio based in Florida, USA.

Facheris has more than 30 years industry experience and is renowned for its design work on luxury boats ranging from tenders to state-of-the-art superyachts.

"We threw down the challenge for him to work with us to design a range of models that would position us as leaders in our niche for years to come," Thurley explains.

"Patrizio has a passion for our style of motor yacht and was really enthusiastic about being involved in pushing the boundaries of what we could achieve."

2018 CLIPPER RELEASE
Clipper will be staging the international release of the new range before the end of the year, with several new generation boats commissioned as boat show releases to follow.

"We have kept everything that is special and inherent in the Clipper Motor Yachts of the past, but taken that to a whole new contemporary level," Thurley adds, saying the build quality in the new range would be second to none.
