Designed for the harshest Australian conditions, the new Dometic Waeco CFX portable fridges now feature the latest WiFi technology so you can control and monitor the temperature of the units remotely via an app.
The new CFX range spans five models from 34-94 litres, each weighing from 17.5kg to 32kg, powered from a 12/24V or 240V source. Retail prices start at $1199 and range to $1899, making these smart fridges viable options for trailerboats, pocket cruisers and small yachts.
Justine Schuller, Head of Marketing for Dometic Australia, said the new portable fridge line is designed specifically for RV owners, boat owners, truck drivers and outdoor enthusiasts who want a top outdoor experience.
"Whether you’d like to check the temperature of your fridge during a long trip, or if you’ve jumped into bed after a long day of exploring only to realise you’ve forgotten to turn it off, you can simply control the unit from your smart device via the Dometic CFX App."
The WiFi technology in the improved Dometic Waeco CFX range and the Dometic CFX app are said to be the result of extensive research and development, with stated performance up to -50C below the ambient temperature outside.
Waeco says the excellent cooling performance and a low power draw are achieved through the inclusion of extra thick polyurethane insulation throughout the unit, plus there’s a tight seal from the lid design, and a new motor.
Due to its low power consumption, the CFX range is also said to work well with a solar panel. The units include a USB charging port, internal LED light, and an easily-clean interior.
Accessories range from an insulated cover and fixing kit to remote battery pack, wiring kit and solar panels. A waiter to fetch your beer is another option.
Dometic will be launching these clever portable fridges and a new brand in February 2017. And not before time, given the blazing Aussie summer.
