Clean report for Lake Eildon

Marina wins environmental thumbs-up

Lake Eildon Marina has become the first fresh water based marina facility to win full accreditation from the Marina Industries Association of Australia for environmental compliance.

Since the inception of the program, more than 50 industry associated marine businesses have voluntarily joined. Ten of the marinas are in Victoria.

The executive officer of the MIAA, Colin Bransgrove, says the acceptance is evidence that marine businesses are looking for ways to benefit local ecosystems and minimise pollution.

Lake Eildon's marina was audited for seven general operations including fueling, workshops, pump out facilities and oil storage.

The owners, Jeff and Janet Thynne, are delighted. "Lake Eildon is an important water resource for boat owners to enjoy today and into the future," Jeff Thynne says.

"We are pleased to fly the 'Clean Marina' flag."
