US fishing, tow and wake sport specialist Chaparral has expanded its Australian line-up with new 19 SSi Outboard, 257 Surf, 280 OSX inboard- and outboard-engined models joining the range.
Chaparral Australia says the three new boats are now available to order in entry-level, Crossover and Surf specifications.
Added to the showroom is the Chaparral 19 SSi Outboard bowrider featuring a redesigned hull compared with the sterndrive model – Chaparral was not happy with the handling after fitting an outboard engine to the sterndrive version, so a new hull was needed.
Chaparral Australia says the interior of the 19 SSi Outboard is basically the same as for the inboard model, but with storage built into where the inboard engine normally sits, and a swim platform built to either side of the outboard engine.

“Of course the DNA from the premium boats is still there with Chaparral’s saltwater heritage at the forefront of all of their thinking,” it said.
The Chaparral 19 SSi Outboard is available in both tow sport-focused Sport and fishing-friendly Ski & Fish models.
The Chaparral 19 SSi Outboard is expected to land here with pricing starting from around $75,000 for a boat, motor and trailer package “with a few extras”, Chaparral Australia said.
Another boat joining the Chaparral Australia range is the 2020 Chaparral 257 Surf featuring the Malibu Surf Gate technology.
The Chaparral 257 Surf features an inboard Volvo Penta sterndrive, a ballast system to help it generate bigger waves behind the uniquely designed surf hull, board racks and a unique graphic design.
Chapparal Australia said the Chaparral 257 Surf was the fifth model in the US tow and wake sport brand’s Surf line-up, which now ranges between 21 and 29 feet in length.
“Borrowing from the 257 SSx Premium sports boat, the 25 Surf does everything right; big on volume, big on quality, big on features and especially big when it comes to the size of the surf waves,” it said.
“With all of the saltwater-tough design and built quality synonymous with Chaparral, their surf range offers the only legitimate surf boat with proven surf technology that is equally at home in fresh or saltwater.”
Also joining the Australian showroom is the Chaparral 280 OSX, a smaller version of the Chaparral 300 OSX.
“The twin outboard boat is a brilliant day boat that captures the true meaning of crossover,” Chaparral Australia said.
“With plenty of luxurious lounge seating throughout, deep 21-degree deadrise hull for comfortable and dry rough water cruising, big fuel capacity, side door for diving, fishing and easy marina access, small cabin with head and sink, hardtop option and unique clever swing-away helm seating to expand the social space, this is as versatile as it gets."
The 280 OSX is about reduced maintenance, with outboard engines that swing up out of the water and self-draining decks adding to the ease of ownership.
Chaparral Australia said with the right outboard engine and trailer option – power choices include either 400hp or 500hp of twin Yamaha four-stroke outboard engine performance – the package is “still towable”.
