Queensland's recreational fishing fraternity is being asked to comment on the Green Paper covering fisheries management reform that will help shape the future of fishing in the state.
The purpose of the Green Paper is to engage with the community and stakeholders about the best approach for managing Queensland's fisheries. The paper outlines such things as:
>> The government's vision for the management of wild harvest fisheries
>> Where we want to be
>> Proposed reforms that are required
Fisheries Queensland says the Green Paper is a major step in developing a strategic policy to guide the management of Queensland's fisheries resources into the future. The government will use feedback received to determine which initiatives are supported by the public.
Public consultation on the green paper is open until Friday, September 30, 2016. The easiest way to have your say is by completing the online survey.
There are 1700 commercial operations and an estimated 640,000 recreational fishers in Queensland and all of them will be affected by the changes that result from this consultation process.
There are two ways to have your say online: (1.) the quick online survey of eight questions, which are a subset of the reforms and associated questions which are likely to be of most interest; or (2.) the longer online survey of 21 questions that address all reform areas and associated questions.
