Cabo flagship arrives in Australia

The flagship of the Cabo Yachts fleet, the 52 Express made its Australian debut recently and is currently undergoing final fitout at Gold Coast City Marina

Since the 52 Express was first released at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October, 2005, Cabo Yachts said this boat has earned a reputation for its sea-keeping ability and outstanding performance; and if sales in the US are anything to go by, this flagship is bound to impress our own big-boat buyers.

According to Australian Cabo dealer, Graham McCloy, you really have to see this boat in the flesh to appreciate just what an amazing craft it is.

"It's like nothing else seen in Australia before and we are proud to be able to release such a magnificent vessel to the Australian public," said McCloy.

"We ran the boat from Brisbane to the Gold Coast on its maiden voyage and I was pleasantly surprised at just how quiet and smooth it ran – even at a sprightly cruise of 36.5kts. This is indeed a boat without compromise," he added.

With an LOA of 52ft1in, a beam of 17ft9in and a displacement of nearly 56,000lb, the 52 Express is no shrinking violet. Combine this naval architect-designed hull with twin 1550hp C32 Caterpillar diesels and it's no slouch either - top speed is quoted at 40kts.

The 52 Express is designed to cater for the serious sportsfisherman while still offering all the comforts of home for family cruising or entertaining friends.

The huge cockpit on the 52 Express has been designed by fishermen for fishermen with strategically located features such as a 200lt livewell, insulated fishboxes, bait freezer, prep centre with tackle storage, padded coamings, outward-opening transom door and ample storage for rods and gaffs.

The helm deck features a social layout with plenty of seating; the helm console is centrally located to provide a clear view to all corners of the boat while pod-mounted single-lever electronic controls promise responsive and easy maneuverability.

Highlights of the accommodation area include a well-equipped apartment-size galley, large dinette, day head and en suite, guest cabin with bunk beds, and a master stateroom with queen-size island berth and a 42in plasma TV.
