Police from Bundaberg and Childers were recently assisting Hervey Bay Water Police in educating the community on compliance/safety checks on all boats.
This Bundy blitz involved police being out on the Burnett River in a hot-looking new marked RIB, patrolling and engaging all persons on the water at the time.
Despite their high visibility, throughout the day the police issued multiple marine warnings which included:
>> Master fail to ensure capacity label attached
>> Disobey no wash
>> Master fail to have sufficient safety equipment as required by regulation
Bundaberg Police are reminding all persons using vessels that they must affix a registration label to their vessel.
Police are also reminding all avid boaties to ensure their vessels are currently registered and they have the required safety equipment on board and that it complies with regulation.
There's been a spate of dodgy boaters around the Bundy area and the local constabulary are doing their best to keep the waterways safe for everyone.
Bundy Police say anyone with information which could assist with identifiying dodgy boaters should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or, 24 hours a day, at crimestoppers.com.au.
