Bumper show for Melbourne

Expectations exceeded in Melbourne -- things look bright for Sydney show

The Melbourne Boat Show that finished up on the 6th of July proved that boat-lovers don't think there is any global financial crisis.

"Recession? What recession?" was the cry from exhibitors as 37,634 visitors streamed through the show over the five open days.

Interestingly, many exhibitors reported they were beginning to run low on stock only half way through the show.

Boating Industry Association general manager Robert Coco told the Boatsales Network the attendance and the sales were extraordinary: "We are getting to the core of our boat-buying public," Coco says.

"Victoria's trailer boat market really fired up, along with the fishing and recreational markets.

"I've never seen so many happy exhibitors. If this is a sign of things to come, the year looks bright for Sydney and other shows around Australia," added Mr Coco.

"Nobody is quite sure of why people were buying with such enthusiasm, but one thing was certain -- doom and gloom took a holiday," stated an ebullient Robert Coco.
