Apprentices graduate into boatingRiviera, the country's largest pleasure boat builder, chalked up a remarkable milestone this week when nine of its apprentices graduated as qualified tradesmen in the marine industry.
The company hosted a special lunch to congratulate its newest tradesmen and Riviera CEO Paul Lyons commended the young workers who graduated in areas such as Marine Craft Construction, Plastics Composites, Engineering, Furniture Making and Marine Craft Construction.
Lyons said Riviera had a history of more than 15 years in training and developing apprentices for the marine business.
"There are not many manufacturers who have a dedicated apprenticeship program and it demonstrates the commitment Riviera has to its people," he said. "Our people are by far our greatest asset."
The graduating apprentices are Scott Salmon, Stuart Tilsley, Rhys Phillips, Robert Geddes, Mitchell Seaward, Bradley Herselman, Luke Hawkins, Jai Schmitt and Jayden Anderson.
Salmon said it was one of the best achievements of his life and Tilsley said it was well worth the effort to do a mature-age apprenticeship.
Others said they were looking forward to working their way up through the company and working to produce world class boats.
Riviera offers 20 different models from 36 to 85 feet in its Flybridge, Sport Yacht, Offshore Express and Motor Yacht series.
