The choice of boats for sale in Australia has never been greater as the strong Aussie dollar has made both new and second-hand imported vessels and engines seem like a great deal.
Unfortunately, for some buyers, the promises of huge savings don't always prove to be exactly correct. Lack of warranties and after-sales service, unexpected problems with electronics and the maze of import regulations often backfire on what looked like a deal that was too good to ignore.
Now the NSW Marine Brokers Association has begun a boating consumer awareness campaign to educate buyers to the possible drawbacks of some grey imports and to highlight the benefits of dealing with a BIA accredited marine broker.
The 36 members of the Marine Brokers Association, many of them long-standing Sydney-based boat sales professionals, are focused on delivering the highly professional sales and service that both boat buyers and boat owners deserve.
BIA accredited marine brokers understand that boat ownership experience doesn’t finish once they deliver a boat to their clients. Many provide education for boat buyers and buyers receive the highest level of service and support when they deal with a BIA Accredited Broker.
The education campaign focuses on the benefits they provide to the public. Marine sales professionals understand the risks of buying and selling a high-priced asset such as a boat. For both existing owners and those new to boating, this gives peace of mind.
They can match clients with the right boat, give advice on the potential pitfalls of buying privately and the complex nature of some offshore deals.
This education campaign will ensure boat buyers are aware of the positive and rewarding experience they can get when dealing with a BIA Accredited Broker.
The co-ordinated efforts of the Boating Industry of NSW and the Marine Brokers Association aim to ensure that boat ownership remains the number one choice in recreation and that buying, selling and owning a boat is as rewarding as it can be.
