BRISBANE BOAT SHOW: Trailerboat displays ramp up

Open today, a trailerboat, fishing and watersports show, frorm August 25 until Sunday August 27

The Brisbane Boat Show show opens today at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre at South Bank and will run

from August 25 to 27 with increased floor space.

In a state dominated by trailerboat fishing, the Brissie show brings together all the latest fishy craft and gear in one central location close to the heart of the city.

The Chief Executive of the Boating Industry Association (BIA), which now organisers the event, also makes the point that boat manufacturing plays a big part in the Queensland economy and this event promotes the quality and ingenuity that Australia has to offer.

"With Australia’s recreational boating headquarters and manufacturing hub at Brisbane’s doorstep, visitors can be assured that the industry will put its best foot forward for this show," Howard Glenn enthused.

First run in 1961, the Brisbane Boat Show boasts has always been a hot place to buy boats, further your boating and fishing education, and enjoy family entertainment along the way.

But the show struggled to pull a big crowd in recent years under the now defunct Marine Queensland industry group. Since the BIA took over this historic boat show, there’s been a lot more energy and a change of fortune. The official attendance figure of 12,300 last year was up 40 per cent on the previous unsustainable event.

Working off the principle that ‘Good Boating is Safe Boating’, show organisers have pulled together an excellent line up of agencies to help locals better understand how to enjoy their time on the waterways this year.

The BIA says there will be an extensive program for the education stage, and with more than 70 per cent of visitors having an interest in fishing, it’s obvious what most of the presentations will be talking about.

To add to the entertainment, an oversized swimming pool will be on hand to demonstrate kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Those not too shy of the water can give it a go.

The doors will open from 10am to 8pm Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 6pm Sunday, with parking available at the venue. Ticket prices are Adults $15, Children $5 (under 5’s go Free). $5 tickets are available after 5pm.

Tickets are available online, and all tickets bought online go into the draw to win a fabulous kayak from Hobie.

The 2018  Brisbane Boat Show will run from August 25 to 27 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. More at Brisbane Boat Show.
