Boston Whaler's new 345 Conquest

Inspiring new wheelhouse design switches from fish to family in a blink
Boston Whaler says its new 345 Conquest is a rugged, professional-grade design with purposeful amenities in a layout geared for the way we use onboard space these days. But offshore fishing trips don't have to mean sacrificing ease or comfort and this boat has a very social enclosed helm.
"The new 345 Conquest is tailor-made for experienced boaters who know exactly what they want -- reliable performance, tremendous fishing capability, ergonomic comfort, and the right complement of features, without hassles or headaches," said Jeff Vaughn, Boston Whaler's vice president of sales, marketing and customer service.
"While the technology of this boat is cutting-edge, it has the intuitiveness that is a hallmark of the Conquest family, taken to a whole new level."
HELM DECK
The 345 Conquest features a "reimagined" helm companion area, where family members and friends can join the captain in climate-controlled comfort inside the integrated open windshield/hardtop enclosure.
Designed to foster better conversations, while maintaining witha clear view of the horizon, the helm deck features a portside seat that converts via an optional filler cushion into a full lounge.
The starboard cockpit wet bar comes complete with a refrigerator/freezer, sink, storage and cutting board so you  don't have to duck into the cabin to grab a snack or wash up after landing the catch.
Opposite is the prep station and Whaler's reversible companion seating that provides a great spot to relax and engage in helmside conversation. When the main action is in the cockpit, this large seat converts easily to face aft. A footrest pulls out for additional ergonomic comfort.
Like the helm area, the cockpit is designed for utility. A convenient work surface or large grill slide out easily and tuck away securely when your prep work is done or the burgers have been served.
Large drawers provide additional storage underneath in an area that's well suited for entertaining. Further aft, the cockpit features a roomy, comfortable bench that folds out of the way when you're ready to fish, transforming the area into a huge platform.
"The Conquest family of boats has always been a source of rugged luxury and incredible offshore and fishing performance," said Vaughn.
"In the new 345 Conquest, we've taken that foundation and expanded the possibilities for onboard functionality, creating spaces that are even more inviting, even more useful, while retaining the timeless no-frills aesthetic that contributes to Conquest's appeal."
LOADED CABIN FOR WEEKENDS
After a long day on the water, the ability to congregate below deck provides a welcome change of pace. The cabin of the 345 Conquest offers a perfect place to gather, says Whaler, with a large dining table that seats six adults comfortably and a full galley.
When night falls, the table converts electronically into a plush queen-sized berth. A large settee starboard sleeps one adult or two children comfortably, and during the day provides a great place to spread out with a book or a snack.
Amenities including a high-quality head, ample storage and an entertainment centre. In so doing, rugged capability doesn't mean comfort has to fall by the wayside, claims Whaler.
OFFSHORE PERFORMANCE
Triple Mercury Verado four-stroke engines with state-of-the-art SmartCraft VesselView display are said to deliver a smooth, quiet ride and incredible efficiency. Raymarine packages -- including the advanced gS Series --and high-definition digital radar assist navigation.
With the optional upper station, you will enjoy an even greater view of the water, fish and the distant horizon.
"The 345 Conquest draws from a wealth of feedback our team has gathered over the years," said Vaughn.
"The opinions of longtime boaters fundamentally inform its design, from the way their use of onboard space has evolved, to the amenities that make a range of activities not just possible, but enjoyable.
"We're excited to be expanding the notion of 'capability' to inspire our boaters' next chapter," he adds.
The 345 Conquest comes in both lock-up and open-back (as pictured) helm deck designs. Local Boston Whaler importer, Queensland Marine Centre, has a new 345 Conquest on order that's expected to be delivered here in early 2014. See
