Boston Whaler's new 2014 Dauntless models

Expanded 'multitasking' centre-console range gains handy 210 and mid-range 240
Boston Whaler has announced an exciting new Dauntless line-up for 2014. The big American boat builder says the Dauntless are packed with cutting-edge features and design details that take the popular multitasking series to the next level.
The brand-new 210 and 240 Dauntless are said to be perfectly designed for the way today's active families spend their time on the water.
Across the lineup, from the nimble 170 to the flagship 270, the multicapable Dauntless seek to equip boaters with everything needed to take on serious fishing, action-packed watersports, and comfortable cruising 'in true Whaler style.'
"The new Dauntless family is the embodiment of a clever transformation," said Jeff Vaughn, Boston Whaler's vice president of sales, marketing and customer service. "The Dauntless lineup has long been appreciated for its ability to multitask. It's now better equipped than ever to do it all-to inspire your own family's next chapter."
The leader of the expanded Dauntless range is the new flagship 270 released this year. Spacious and stylish, it's an attention-grabber offering 'rugged luxury.'
The boat builder says every passenger will find a comfortable spot to call their own, starting with the roomy bow, which features innovative flip-up backrests-pioneered by Boston Whaler, a design that is apparently already drawing rave reviews.
Under the bow seats, convenient storage keeps even bulky items safely stowed. The 270 Dauntless also features a plush forward lounge seat, complete with fold-down armrests, and houses a lockable storage compartment. This cavernous, easily accessible space has room for fishing rods, two large buckets, and every bit of gear the active family needs -- even dive tanks!
For dedicated anglers, the cockpit's optional deluxe leaning post with a large livewell, sink, rod holders and raw-water washdown raises the game. In the aft section, Boston Whaler's clever flip-up stern seat with backrest transforms easily to form an elevated, non-skid platform, well appointed for fishing or spreading out with a good book.
But the 270 is only the beginning for this new family story...
The 2014-model 210 Dauntless and 240 Dauntless are sizable newcomers with space and amenities for a variety of adventures. The popular All-Activity Tower option elevates watersports action with a ski pylon and racks.
Meanwhile, the generous swim platform makes it easy for swimmers to enter and exit, and its larger size enforces keeping a safer distance from the prop while in the water.
On models from the 170 Dauntless up to the new 240, anglers can choose a reversible pilot seat with livewell or additional storage to ramp up fishability. All Dauntless models offer available Raymarine navigation packages to meet your high-tech fish-finding, global-positioning needs.
Storage is a Whaler design priority, with state-of-the-art solutions throughout each boat to keep your gear safe and dry.
Rounding out the multicapable family, the 170 and 180 Dauntless pack utility into nimble and stylish packages. From serious angling to watersports, cruising, and beyond, these boats will have your family talking long after you end your day on the water, Whaler says.
For anglers, the optional reversible pilot seat with large livewell or slide-out cooler ensure lots of cockpit space for hauling in trophy catches.
Whatever your activity of choice, the high 50cm of interior freeboard will have every passenger feeling secure and at ease, Whaler says. Like the rest of their Dauntless brethren, the 170 and 180 Dauntless feature robust aft seating that transforms in seconds into a full-width casting platform.
With Mercury Verado power options, performance is assured and the boat is backed by Boston Whaler's impressive three-year bow-to-stern warranty, 10-year structural hull warranty and patented Unibond construction for safety and peace of mind.
"The new Dauntless family was designed with active families in mind," Vaughn said. "We know that our customers are passionate about a wide range of activities, and they expect a boat to deliver not just functionality, but also enjoyment.
"The new Dauntless models accomplish that by offering more versatility, more amenities and greater ease of use than ever. We are excited to see what stories these boats inspire," adds Vaughan.
