Bolwell expands dealer network

Niche fibreglass hard-wall campers now available at Track Trailer dealers

Melbourne’s Outback HQ in Boronia – better known as the retail front of off-road specialist manufacturer Track Trailer – has been appointed the national distributor of the all-fibreglass, Melbourne-built Bolwell Edge tourer and Air expandable camper.

Under the agreement that began in early May, Outback HQ will complete the fit-out and undertake quality control checks of both Bolwell models at Track Trailer’s Dorset Road manufacturing plant and will market them via its dealer network.

At present the dealers have signed up to take the Bolwell RVs in addition to the Track Trailer Mate, Tvan and Topaz off-roaders, however Track Trailer Marketing Manager Lloyd Waldron expects the network to grow to around seven by the end of 2016.

Waldron said the Bolwell models were a good fit with the Track Trailer range and would allow Outback HQ to offer products spanning the $15,000 to mid-$90,000s price points.

Under Outback HQ distributorship, the folding hard-wall Bolwell Air will sell from $43,500 and the pop-top Edge from $62,500, alongside the TT Mate (from $15,000), Tvan (from $49,600) and range-toping Topaz Hybrid Pop-Top (from $86,500).

However while Outback HQ will fit out both Bolwell models, Waldron says there are no plans at this stage for any reciprocal production arrangements with Bolwell for TT components.

“The Air is predominantly a sealed-road camper and the Edge is a gravel road tourer, so they standard apart from Track Trailer models, which are built specifically for extreme off-road conditions,” he said.

“So the TT models are not moving to fibreglass construction under this arrangement and there will be very few common components."

The Edge employs Bolwell’s own SureFoot independent trailing arm suspension, while the AIR employs a system similar to Al-Ko’s rubber suspension, with Waldron insisting there were no plans to slip Track Trailer’s off-road MC2 Asymmetrical system under either Bolwell model in the future.

Prior to Track Trailer taking over distribution Bolwell RVs were sold either direct from Melbourne, via trade displays at caravan and camping shows or via Bolwell’s Queensland dealer.
