The idea behind a custom-made boat is that you get exactly what you want. The trouble is finding someone who wants exactly what you did when it comes time to sell it.
That’s why this Oceantech 6.4 Centre Console caught our eye – it pretty much has everything most avid offshore fishers would want, and all in a single package.
Adelaide-based Oceantech is a group of naval architects with a rich pedigree in building large commercial steel fishing vessels. However, its wider group of businesses gives it experience in also building recreational boats – everything from alloy tinnies up.
This particular boat was built in 2019, and wants for nothing – and at $130K it’s a very reasonable price given what it has.
The 6.4-metre centre console with its distinctive shrunken-down trawler-style profile, flat chines and deep freeboard sits on a customised alloy trailer with an extended drawbar that should make off-the-beach launches possible.
There’s a full suite of cutting-edge electronics, three batteries, heaps of tackle storage, the comfy console leaning post, T-top with clears and rocket launcher rod holders, JL Marine audio system, and more.
Powering the package is a 200hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard engine with less than 70 hours on it, and fuelled via a large 300-litre tank. Volvo Penta trim tabs help settle the ride comfort at speed.
Fishing features include a 60-litre live bait tank, outriggers, a high-pressure deck wash, big side pockets, topdeck-mounted rod holders, but no bait preparation station.
The cockpit’s floor is fully lined, and there’s a walk-through transom leading straight out to a duckboard beside the outboard engine pod.
The package does come without an anchor, but according to the seller, the wiring is all in place ready for something to drop in.
