Boatology isn’t just introducing Mimi boats – it’s also preparing to bring Evo Yachts to local waters. The Sydney-based dealer has secured exclusive distribution rights for Oceania, paving the way for Italian boatbuilders to blend Mediterranean style with Australia and New Zealand’s boating lifestyle and introduces two ranges of Italian craft to Australia.

The first range – Mimi – now in Sydney, reflects the rugged full-hulled fishing boats that venture out among the choppy, changeable seas off Naples in southern Italy.
The second range that arrives for the 2026 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) looks as sleek as a Milan catwalk model, but with a lot more practicalities; something well known Italian designer Valerio Rivellini has inbuilt as the designer of both these ranges.
These boats come from decades of experience on Mediterranean waters, where Italy’s fishing heritage helped shape them.
The Naples-based Cantiere Mimi yard has produced more than 3000 hulls since its foundation in 1975. Its range spans from 6.5m to 13.5m, including classic ‘gozzo’-style fishing boats and cabin cruisers. Famous along Italy’s west coast, these boats were designed for seaworthiness, carrying capacity and generous internal volume.
Modern versions use vacuum-infused fibreglass hulls and streamlined profiles to give a fresh twist to an age-old design – classic yet practical.

Boatology boss Zain Moloobhoy flew designer Valerio Rivellini and Cantiere Mimi director Domenico “Mimì” Senese to Sydney for the launch.
“We see two markets for these boats, with both established boaters and new boaters being attracted,” Moloobhoy told boatsales from his Sydney Harbour office.
Part of a multi-generational shipping family, Moloobhoy says Boatology aims to combine a fresh approach with traditional after-sales support, including a dedicated shipwright for commissioning and quality control.
Behind Moloobhoy’s office window bobbed the first arrival – the Mimi 8.5 Sport, a semi-displacement motor cruiser measuring 8.5 metres (28 feet). A distinctive design with rounded stern, flared bows, and teak decks set around a centre-console helm.
Power comes from a Yanmar 230hp shaft-driven diesel engine, giving a cruising speed of around 17 knots. Steering is via the centre console under a fibreglass arch that supports a canvas bimini.
Below decks, there’s a double berth and bathroom, while the galley sits behind the helm for easy alfresco cooking.
Large portlights ensure natural ventilation, and those flared bows create volume for the forward berth. Real teak decking adds grip and a natural feel, while the wide stern converts into a sunbed. Forward, bench seating offers space for stretching out or socialising.
Stylish, unique yet very practical – the Cantiere Mimi range should win plenty of followers in Australia who want to stand out from the crowd.

Evo Yachts will make its Australian debut at the 2026 SCIBS, expanding Boatology’s portfolio and giving local buyers access to cutting-edge Italian design.
