Black Watch Mako 26

A brand new Australian-built flybridge sportscruiser for around 100 grand? Impossible? Not so! For $103,950 you can cruise away in a new Mako 26 from Black Watch

The Mako 26 is based on Black Watch's smallest flybridge model which is popular with keen sportsfishermen and family boaties alike.

The only difference with the Mako 26, as opposed to the Black Watch 26, is a few of the bells and whistles have been omitted in an attempt to market the Mako as an entry-level flybridge cruiser.

Black Watch says the Mako 26 is an ideal vessel for anyone graduating from a trailerboat, who is looking for the extra comfort associated with a flybridge boat without the exorbitant pricetag.

Although the Mako 26 is known as the no-frills model in the Black Watch range, this sassy little boat can still be described as luxurious. With sleeping capacity for four via a forward double berth and a drop-down dinette, as well as a fully-enclosed head and galley, the Mako is a comfortable overnighter even with friends or family aboard.

Standard power for the Mako 26 is a single V-eight 250hp Volvo Penta petrol engine fitted with a DuoProp sterndrive. The V-eight Volvo is reported to push the Mako along at better than 30kt. EFI and diesel powerplants are optional.

Features of the cockpit include moulded sink with cockpit shower, insulated icebox, self-bailing scuppers, non-skid deck, hinged floor hatches and engineroom access. There is also a fibreglass swim platform included as standard equipment.

A custom stainless steel ladder leads from the cockpit to the flybridge where you'll find a basic but stylish helm station.

Seating for helmsman and passengers is provided via an adjustable benchseat which allows good vision to all extremities of the vessel.

The flybridge console features flush-mounted gauges, steering wheel and controls. There is ample room for mounting electronics and a standard bimini top provides protection from the elements.

Black Watch describe the Mako 26 as a vessel with a perfect blend of handling, comfort, performance and style, which is as much at home fishing the shelf as it is cruising sheltered waterways.
