The BIA NSW Board has announced that, to assist the industry in these financial times, Sydney International Boat Show Rates will be held at last year’s rates despite known cost increases of between four and six per cent. The board recognised the challenges the industry is facing and believe that holding exhibitor rates is one way of assisting members in the coming year. This will be the fourth time in the past six years that the association has held rates.
Apart from holding rates, free public entry will continue to apply in 2012 for the BIA subsidised Rosehill Trailer Boat Show.
Roy Privett, the association's General Manager said: "The board is fully aware of what is happening in the market place, and it is their belief that they should do what they can to support the industry."
But holding rates is only one of the many plans the association has. In believing that the promotion of the boating lifestyle is an ongoing and critical element of the association’s responsibilities, it has again committed to sponsoring Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender program in 2012. The relationship with Sydney Weekender started in 1998 and each year the BIA works with the program to produce 14 to 18 stories, all telling a positive boating lifestyle story.
"The show is not about selling a brand of boat. It’s about educating the audience about how easy it is to participate in recreational boating. It’s about how people can enjoy a healthy lifestyle on the water. To kick off summer, the Sydney Weekender will, throughout December, run a promotion where a lucky viewer can win a family boating package," said Mr Privett.
The promotion has been put together with support from Savage & Evinrude, Blakes Marine and the BIA, with a lucky winner taking home a $24,500 boating package. The promotion will show viewers how simple and cheap it can be getting the family onto the water. Last calls for entries will occur in their bumper Christmas Eve special.
