More than 200 boats were on show, both on land and water, and boating enthusiasts took the opportunity to take in other festivities happening at the same time, including the Volvo Ocean Race and the Melbourne Food and Wine Show.
This year's timing of the event meant the boat show was scheduled alongside the Melbourne Motor Show. The two shows combined their marketing skills and worked on a successful cross-promotional campaign.
More than 400 people took advantage of the two-show discounted ticket offer, while the free ferries between the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and New Quay were packed as visitors experienced the best of land and sea.
BIA Victoria chief executive officer Lindsay Grenfell said the show was a boon for the recreational boating industry.
"We were able to capitalise on the large crowds that were visiting Docklands for the Volvo Ocean Race Restart and the Melbourne Food and Wine Show," Grenfell said.
"Working in conjunction with these events enabled us to attract a much broader demographic to our show, making it by far the busiest Summer Boat Show we have ever staged."
