Berrys Bay Marina lodges plans

Pacifica Developments has lodged a new development application with North Sydney Council for a maritime and recreational precinct at Berrys Bay on Sydney Harbour (bottom left of aerial photo).

After seven years of design development, taking in consideration feedback from the community and stakeholders during the design process, a proposal has been developed that aims to provide the opportunity for people with a range of interests to share and enjoy this unique location on the harbour, the developers say.

The application seeks consent for the partial demolition and adaptive reuse of existing development and construction of an 84 berth marina, sewage pump-out facilities, dry stack boat storage, adaptive reuse of two storey building and construction of two new buildings containing caretaker’s apartment, yacht club, kiosk and non-residential tenancies, launch area for small craft, parking for 120 cars, landscaping and foreshore access works, and ancillary works and structures such as roads, infrastructure and amenities. Areas historically used for industry and not open to the public would be renewed and reactivated.

The developers, who claim to have experience in delivering projects in environmentally sensitive areas and effectively engaging with community and stakeholders, say they have taken great care to maintain the character of the site and that this is reflected in the landscaping and buildings.

>> Marina Gardens 5522m2 where the public can enjoy large open areas
>> Kayak storage and launching facilities
>> Off street car parking
>> Retention of all items of historic interest including winches, remnant convict block retaining walls and sea walls
>> Connection between Carradah Park and Balls Head Reserve.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Pacifica is inviting the public you to come along to a community information session on site on Saturday, August 15, 2015. You can drop in any time between 11am and 2pm to view information and speak to members of the project team, who look forward to meeting interested residents and stakeholders.

This community information session is separate to the North Sydney Council community information sessions (DA and details at http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/Home) that are being held to support the exhibition period and assessment process.

Detailed plans are currently on exhibition and submissions can be made to North Sydney Council until September 7, 2015.

The development application will be assessed by council and referred to the Department of Planning and Environment Joint Regional Planning Panel for decision once the exhibition and public submission period closes.
