Bermuda Aluminium 445 Tournament

Aluminium boat builder, Bermuda has designed its 445 Tournament runabout for first boat buyers and those moving up from an open dinghy

At the same time, the company, a divison of Marine Power, insists that its boat buyers can still customise the boat (and others in the Bermuda line-up) by selecting from an inventory of over a dozen optional items. In other words, in standard form the Bermuda 445 is fully rigged and ready for the water, but where boaters want canopies for instance, these can be factory fitted to order.

Measuring 4.45m overall the Tournament is designed to be easily managed, towed and launched single-handed. It is fitted with a 40hp Mercury outboard (the hull is rated to 50hp maximum).

Bermuda says, this level of power is well suitable for its all-round nature, supplying plenty of oomph for fishing and cruising and also adequate to pull an inflatable skitube for some family fun.

Built by Queensland manufacturer Quintrex for Bermuda, the 445 Tournament is designed as a true all-rounder with an open cockpit for fishos and enough (optional) seating to accommodate the family for a day cruising.

The interior layout is conventional.

The foredeck boasts a bowsprit with roller that makes anchoring manageable one-up. A tinted wraparound windscreen features a grabrail on the inside of the screen frame.

Principle seating is provided via two pedestal seats. These swivel and the helmsman's features an adjustable base to allow the seat to move fore or aft for a comfortable driving position.

Across the aft end of the cockpit, for families that require additional seating, there is an optional folding rear lounge. Alternatively, buyers can leave the rear of the cockpit uncluttered for fishing.

The floor in the cockpit is fully carpeted as standard.

From a safety perspective, the rig has all the credentials for safe and comfortable boating, says Bermuda. The sub-floor area is filled with positive foam flotation, while all electrical wiring is factory fitted, Bermuda says.

The hull with 3mm bottom and transom and 1.6mm topsides is manufactured from marine grade aluminium.

Available options include such features as deluxe pedestal seats, navigation lights, canopy, rear folding seat, instrumentation, GME 27Meg radio, Humminbird sounder and canopy, storm covers and side curtains.

Offering good value for money, the Bermuda 445 Tournament is priced at around $15,995 matched with a 40hp mercury and Bermuda 4.4 centreline trailer with registration and all safety gear.
