
Beneteau, the official supplier to the London 2012 Olympic Games, handed over a fleet powerboats to LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) on Saturday 16 of June in a special inauguration ceremony in Weymouth.
The fleet of 23 boats worth €5.4 million will be used to accommodate referees, journalists, organisers and VIPs during the Olmpic and Paralympic Games.
The powerboats, supplied to LOCOG include the Antares, Swift Trawlers, Gran Turismo and Barracudas, supplied by Beneteau’s network of dealers in the UK.
After handing over the keys for the vessels to the London 2012 Sailing Manager, Rob Andrews, Beneteau’s UK Sales Manager, Francois Renault, said: "We’re delighted to be supporting the London 2012 Olympic Games by supplying a fleet of 23 quality Beneteau powerboats to accommodate royalty, heads of state, race officials and other VIPs.
"We’re confident they will provide the best possible platform from which to enjoy the sailing events at this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Weymouth and Portland."
The London 2012 Olympic Games will be held from July 27 to August 12, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 29 to September 9.
