Today's boat designers working with modern materials are producing boats that their predecessors could only dream about -- like a 28 footer with room for 10 and sleeping space for six.
The new Bayliner 285 Cruiser offers all this and affordable luxury for the whole family in an easy to maintain package and with built-to-last quality. With an exceptionally wide beam of just under 10 feet, the 285 Cruiser has an impressive amount of functional space given its overall size and reasonable price.
Betsy Lazzara, vice president of Bayliner, promises that family overnights or a weekend trip with friends will never feel cramped or crowded.
“Given the strong success of the previous 285, our goal was to maintain the sought-after features responsible for its success while updating the interior look of the cabin and overall usable space of the cockpit,” Lazzara says.
Unique features include the double wide helm seat that allows the skipper to be included in the conversation and the private aft cabin that allows two couples to enjoy an overnight trip or weekend away.
Cabin updates like the maple wood interior and black countertops give the 285 Cruiser a sharper, more modern feel.
Weighing in at 3654 kilos and with just under 400 litres of fuel, the 285 Cruiser is no lightweight but its standard 350 MAG Bravo III ECT Mercruiser provides tremendous performance. Upgrades are available from the 377 Mercruiser 320hp version to the formidable 8.2 litre 380hp Mercruiser. There is also a diesel option with the 4.2 litre 320hp Cummins/Mercruiser package.
