Bavaria Project DA10 revealed

First artists renderings of the new out-of-the-box German flybridge and sportsyacht

Under the code name Project DA10, German boatbuilder Bavaria has been quietly creating and planning what it considers an "absolutely new concept in motoryachts."

The semi-displacement 40-footer with very European thinking will reportedly be powered by Volvo Penta engines from 75hp-300hp.

With the so-called Project DA10, Bavaria says it is aiming to set new benchmarks in the powerboat market and wants to meet the customer’s desires on a totally new level.

It is not going about speed with the project DA10. The opposite will be the case: comfort, intelligent spatial solutions, surefooted handling and very economical engine running costs are the focus of the new development, along with retaining Bavaria’s values regarding design and functionality.

"It’s fantastic to develop a super-efficient [motor]yacht which opens new possibilities of the use for owners and charter customers. Our design ideas are as classical on the one hand as they are revolutionary on the other," said Fabio Marcellino, product manager of Bavaria Yachts and the man behind Project DA10.

Design-wise, Vripack, one of the Netherland's well-known naval architecture and design houses, has been working with the Bavaria Development team and Fabio Marcellino.

Bavaria says many workshops were held exploring the advantages and disadvantages of existing concepts for sailing and powerboats. These were analysed by experts including professional journalists, representatives from the trader's network of Bavaria and the in-house development team. The results from all this were noted down in a concept book for Project DA10.

"Comfort on and under deck is valued and transformed [with] sailing and powerboats in many different ways. Bavaria has from its history a great experience in both segments. With our Project DA10 we will unite the best from both worlds in one boat," said Lutz Henkel, CEO of Bavaria.

Bavaria’s marketing machine has started rolling earlier than usual because of the important new ground this Project will be bringing to the market in 2016.

"We want to take our customers... on the trip of the creation of the DA10 and allow them to participate in it. As soon as there will be a new level of development in the Project, our customers will be the first to know about it via social networks," explains Meik Lessig, manager of Marketing and Sales.

The first drawings and layouts of the Project DA10 will be released this week on Bavaria's Facebook fan page.
