Bar Crusher's tough 620HT

Small but powerful offshore

Serious offshore fishers, particularly those who have to pound though the confused seas at the bars of most east coast harbours, don't need to be told about the toughness and sea mastering ability of Bar Crusher's aluminium boats.

As the smallest model in the company's hard top range, the new 620HT has been built with all the rugged ability of its larger siblings and to rival much bigger boats when the conditions get serious.

The 620HT is constructed from heavy duty, pre-stressed marine grade plate aluminium that is 5mm thick on the bottom of the hull and 4mm thick on the topsides. This is not a tinny that will flex as it come off the back of a wave in big seas.

With an overall length of 6.80 metres and a beam of 2.35 metres, the 620HT features Bar Crusher’s trade-marked Waveslicer deep-vee hull that is designed to slice through chop and give a stable and safe ride in following seas. The non-pounding design of the hull helps eliminate the shakes that can effect some aluminium trailer boats. Much of the credit for this goes to Bar Crusher’s expertly engineered Rigideck (TM) sub-floor system.

The boat also features Bar Crusher’s exclusive Quickflow (TM) water ballast system to make things more comfortable when fishing. The boats have a cavity that runs the full length of the keel and which quickly fills with water when the boat stops. The extra ballast lowers the chines into the water to increase stability and to lessen roll. Once the engine fires up and the boat starts moving, the cavity empties almost immediately so the boat can skip onto the plane.

The 620HT has a toughened safety glass windscreen and there is full standing headroom under the all-weather hard top. The skipper has full 360 degree visibility from the helm and the spacious cockpit has plenty of fishing room for everyone aboard.

Because Bar Crusher knows most buyers of the 620HT will be heading offshore, they have designed the dash to accommodate larger screen marine electronics display units – whether they are flush mounted or bracket mounted.

The new boat is rated to carry a 175hp outboard, so getting to those secret spots well offshore will be no problem. There is a 200 litre built-in fuel tank and a heavy-duty treadplate deck. Buyers can select the optional anchor winch to take the effort out of bringing the pick up from the deep. A couple of forward bunks can keep you out of foul weather or allow a couple of people to camp aboard overnight.

As the 620HT can be trailered easily by most 4X4s, a trip up or down the coast to find the big ones beckons.
