Navico Australia's Dave Silva will be the envy of all competitive barramundi anglers when he rolls up in his new build from Bar Crusher Boats at his next tournament.
The custom model has taken Bar Crusher's popular crossover 560XS to a new level. Built on the heavy-duty plate aluminium 6.1 metre 560 hull, the boat has been designed to easily handle the often messy conditions, created by the significant tidal movements and wind encountered in the Top End, found along the area's river systems and coastline.
The boat uses Bar Crusher's Waveslicer, non-pounding deep V hull with its Rigideck sub-floor system and the exclusive Quickflow water ballast system to make the boat stable at rest.
Starting with the standard 560XS Reef Sport, Silva has moved the console to the starboard side and converted the port pocket into a large rod locker that has room to store all the fishing gear when it is not in use.
The spacious forward casting platform, which has a large storage area underneath, has been covered with 10mm tick high-density foam and then carpeted. This will provide a cushioned fishing area to help reduce fatigue during long days on the water. The built-in and plumbed fish well is large enough to take a metre-plus barramundi.
A secondary casting platform is located at the stern. This area also has three seat spigots so three anglers can ride comfortably during long runs to remote fishing spots. The boat is rated for 150hp outboards and carries 200 litres of fuel.
Lowrance High Definition System electronics are fitted in three locations around the boat so that GPS, sonar and engine management information can be viewed without moving.
Bar Crusher may consider adding this specialist barra boat to its range should there be sufficient consumer demand.
