Organisers said the Balmain Regatta is open to everyone. Entry forms are available outside the front entrance of the Balmain Sailing Club and on the club's website, and must be lodged by Friday, October 17 along with the entry fee.
The Balmain Regatta was first held in 1849 and continued until 1934. It was revived in 1994 by the Wooden Boat Association. In 1997, it was run as a separate event, jointly organised by the Balmain Sailing Club and the Wooden Boat Association. The Sydney Heritage Fleet, the Balmain Association and other bodies have joined forces to make the regatta the spectacle it was in days gone by, said organisers.
