The harshest and most observant critics of any boat are those people who own one, and sensible manufacturers make no delays in acting on feedback from their customers.
The new Back Cove 34, which is nearing completion in the US and which should reach Australia in November, is a perfect example of owner-driven evolution.
Styled in the now-familiar Maine lobster-boat style with a distinctive spoon bow, the Back Cove 34 is an evolution of the very popular Back Cove 30 and is the result of input from customers around the world.
Australian distributor Jed Elderkin of Emarine Australia says that whenever Back Cove creates o new model it is always the “perfect next step”.
“The company takes acre to communicate with owners, always applying a large amount of constructive feedback to the next generation of boats,” Elderkin says, “This means the boats evolve with genuine improvements in detail, often little things like head height, how easy it is to get into and out of bed, elbow-room in the shower ... and so on.”
Below deck the new Back Cove 34 has a large island berth and convertible L-shaped settee, as well as a large head with separate shower stall. The full galley, including a two-drawer fridge under the helm seats, is situated on the helm deck. A dining area with a solid wood, inlaid, table that seats four adults is opposite the galley.
The aft cockpit has a large comfortable lounge area with an L-shaped bench seat and a foldaway seat that combine to make the perfect retreat whether underway of at anchor. The walk-through transom gives access to the boarding and swimming platform.
Emarine Australia will debut the new Back Cove 30 at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, alongside the flagship Back Cove 37.
