Back Cove's exciting new 30-foot motor yacht is to make its Australasian debut at this year's Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on the Queensland Gold Coast in May.
Both the new Back Cove 30 and the popular Back Cove 37 will be on display and Emarine Australia, the exclusive Australian importer of Back Cove Yachts, is expecting both the generate enormous interest.
Jed Elderkin, the principal of Emarine, says it has been a very encouraging start for the company and Back Cove Yachts. "We have sold four Back Cove boats in the first two months of this year, so there are definitely serious buyers out there,” Elderkin says, Sanctuary Cove is a fantastic show and we really hope 2011 will be a big one for us."
"I’m always excited to debut a new model at a boat show. The first Back Cove 30 arrived in Australia at the end of last year and we have already sold five of them – it is a wonderful boat for this region."
The new Back Cove 30 is an evolution of the time-honoured boat building traditions of the US state of Maine. Its spoon bow harks back to the days of the fishing schooners that once plied the banks off the US east coast. The design was adopted later by traditional Maine lobster boats. The bow is designed to ride over rough water and land softly rather than crash through waves.
Combined with a dee-vee hull, downward-turning chines forward, and a stylish sloping transom, the Back Cove 30 offers the elegance of a traditional Maine lobster boat with the advantages of modern interior styling and the most up-to-date construction methods.
The hull has been constructed using infusion technology for reduced weight and increased strength. The new model is even more fuel efficient that its predecessor, the Back Cove 29.
Internally there is a comfortable V-berth in the bow that converts to seating around a saloon table. There is also a fully-equipped galley and a separate head and shower.
The light and bright cockpit, which offers 360-degree views from the helm chair, has large signature windows and an open and spacious rear deck. Fitted with the standard single 315hp diesel, the Back Cove 30 can reach cruising speeds of around 20 knots while not guzzling fuel.
Docking is made easy with a standard bow thruster.
