Azimut launches new flagships

Cannes sees extra luxury

With a couple of new Azimut-Benetti motoryachts due to arrive in Australia this month, the company is celebrating its continuing world-wide success and the successful launch of two new flagships in its range at the Cannes Boat Show.

Azimut took the wraps off the Azimut Grande 120SL, a luxury mega yacht capable of roaring about like a speedboat at up to 40 knots, and the Atlantis 58, a dynamic new boat that combines the company’s sporty style with ample space.

With its boats now marketed worldwide, Amimut is enjoying great success. Sales in Brazil and the US are booming and the two countries now take more than 50 per cent of the company’s total production. The company is particularly proud of its new series of custom yachts, the FB 800, which combines a fibreglass hull with aluminium superstructure – allowing for almost infinite design flexibility while keeping the total weight of the vessel below 500 tonnes.

The new vessels in the company’s range are the Azimut 40, the Azimut 45, the Atlantis 58 and the Azimut Grande 120SL.

The Azimut 40 is the offspring of the popular Azimut 38 but it has significantly more outdoor spaces. The whole boat looks bigger than it is and it features two cabins, two bathrooms and the galley and large living area on the main deck to ensure comfort. On the flybridge, the dinette can be converted to a sunpad to match the sunpad on the foredeck.

Powered by two 355hp Cummins engines, it can cruise at 26 knots with a full load and hit a top speed of 31 knots.

The new Azimut 45 is claimed to be the most highly-evolved flybridge of its size on the market. It comes in two and three cabin versions and features innovative design to make the most of both indoor and outdoor areas. The location of the galley ensures that the cook can talk to both the passengers at the dinette and the helmsman.

The Atlantis 58 is a perfect example of the modern European “open yacht” look. The high sides make the superstructure seem compact and give the boat elegant lines. Special attention has been given to making life aboard comfortable with all spaces generously sized and flexible in their layout.

The 58 comes with two main cabins, a master and a VIP, and a third cabin that can be used as an office, a guest cabin, a entertainment room or a gym. Fitted with two 1200CV MAN engines, the 58 can top 38 knots.

The Azimut Grande 120SL is aimed at owners who want to combine unparallel comfort with sportiness. The owner’s cabin is 43 sq metres, the size of many small apartments, and there are three guest cabins. The flybridge has a Jacuzzi and the bow area features a small sitting room and two large sunpads.

It boat is powered by thee 16 cylinder, 35.7 litre MTU engines that each produce 2400hp. Coupled with KaMeWa water jets, the engines can push the big boat to a top speed of more than 36 knots.
