Azimut for the real Italian-boating experience

Three new models from the largest boat builder in the world make their debut in Italy
Unsurprisingly, Italian boatbuilder Azimut Yachts is out to wow the home crowd at the Genoa Boat Show 2013 this week when it released three new models: Azimut 80, Azimut Magellano 53 and Azimut Atlantis 50.
This new Atlantis 15-metre yacht represents a real breakthrough and achievement for the company, says Azimut, because it is the model that has inducted Atlantis into the Azimut Yachts family.
The addition of Atlantis in the Azimut Collections, plus a new marketing strategy based on ‘Made in Italy,’ is bound to further the open-cruiser brand.
SEA TRAILS AT GENOA
After showing 10 couples around Cannes boat show earlier this month, local Azimut importers 5 Star Motor Cruiser will be at Genoa International Boat Show opening October 2-6 to introduce a further three couples to the new luxury Azimut fleet.
Sea trials are available through 5 Star Motor Cruiser during and after the boat show. Phone the Pyrmont Office in Sydney on (02) 9518 7777. Following the recent federal election, confidence has returned to the luxury-boat market, says 5 Star.
LARGEST YACHT-BUILDER STATUS
Now that Atlantis has joined Azimut Flybridge, Azimut Magellano, Azimut “S” and the Grande range of superyachts, there are five collections under one brand, in effect creating the world's most extensive range of motoryachts up to 120 feet, claims Azimut.
Atlantis open sport yachts span six models from 34’ to 58’; Magellano is a modern Italian interpretation of the classic long-range trawler, with four models from 43’ to 76’; “Flybridge” spans 16 models from 40’ to 100’; the “S” fast open line accounts or five models from 40’ to 86’; while the Grande are four customisable models from 100’ to 120’.
In total, there are now 35 models ranging from the smallest 10-metre boat to the 36-metre superyacht, thereby confirming Azimut Yachts and the Azimut Benetti Group is the largest yacht builder in the world.
TRUE ITALIAN EXPERIENCE
Azimut will concentrate the yacht production in Avigliana and Viareggio, the two main production sites. The focus will be on an Italian company, owned by Italians, with Italian craftsmen, and Italian design -- the real Made in Italy.
Sensing a positive shift in the luxury-boat market, Azimut has launched an investment program costing 29 Millions Euros over the next three years to improve, modernise and streamline the already excellent production site of Avigliana.
MAGELLANO 53
Replacing the 50, the new Azimut Magellano 53 is said to deliver the pleasure of sailing, the quest for the greater comfort onboard, the need for bigger storage spaces and higher autonomy during long crossing. Such attributes are merged with the timeless charm of Italian design.
The cockpit is described as a terrace measuring over 13 sq m. Accommodation spans three cabins for up to six guests, as well as a high pantry for carrying supplies, equipment and, occasionally, an extra emergency bed.
A dual-mode semi-displacement hull, designed by Bill Dixon exclusively for the Magellano collection, ensures smooth navigation, even with head sea, reducing pitch and the impact of waves.
ATLANTIS 50
Meanwhile, The Atlantis 50 is the new sporty coupé with a series of innovations by the Neo Design team that make the yacht versatile and exciting. With the doors opened, the coupé’s main deck is transformed into an extensive living space.
Astern, there is a comfortable sunbath area and swimming platform, which when lifted, reveals a tender up to 2.4 metres in the underlying garage. The cockpit’s design includes a table built into the sunbathing platform. The hardtop is electrically operated.
The Atlantis 50 accommodates four to six guests, with the option of adding a third cabin instead of the dinette. There master and VIP amidships at full-beam, each equipped with a large double bed and private entrance to a bathroom with separate show stall, are said to be especially spacious.
Both cabins are especially light and airy thanks to picture windows and skylights. The Atlantis 50 is equipped with twin Cummins 600hp engines for a claimed top speeds up to 32 knots and cruising speeds of 29 knots.
AZIMUT 80
Following its recent launch at the Cannes Boat Show, the Azimut 80 Flybridge was lauded for its ability to embody a lifestyle where comfort and wellbeing merge with a sophisticated and understated elegance.
With the success of their prior collaborations in larger models, Stefano Righini exterior design and Achille Salvagni Architetti interior design, teamed up to create four distinctive interior design choices dubbed Dolce, Vita, Firenze, and Riviera.
Outdoors, the cockpit is spacious, designed for socialising, with a large sofa and dining table for eight. The enormous flybridge has been designed for maximum versatility.
Among the most impressive elements indoors are the two, floor-to-ceiling windows (1.6m x 2m of glass) on the dining room wall which provide incredibly natural light and breathtaking views.
Accommodation includes four cabins (all with bathrooms), for a total of eight guests. The owner's bathroom is said to be dramatic; full-beam, with two entrances, a spa Jacuzzi and central glassed-in shower stall.
Twin MAN 1550hp engines will give a top speed of 29 knots and there is the option of CMC Marine electric fine stabilisers to enhance the enjoyment of passagemaking.
