Axopar has flagged big changes are coming for its luxury-laden boat range, including a feature you read about first here on boatsales.com.au – gullwing-style doors.
The new range will have its global reveal at the 2020 Boot Dusseldorf, Germany’s peak boat show that runs from January 18-26 next year.
Some of the changes – flagged by a heavily camouflaged boat hull showing forward gullwing-style doors and an image of a Mercedes-Benz 300SL “Gullwing” – are linked to what the Finnish boat-maker calls Project Falcon.
"Project Falcon pushes existing boundaries like never seen before, featuring a host of innovations and unique technical firsts, and a whole new space experience,” Axopar said in a statement posted to its website.
“By looking completely outside the box, we rid ourselves of any preconceived ideas or opinions and challenged ourselves to develop a breath-taking, progressive and strongly customer-focused revolutionary new Axopar.”
The changes were flagged in a patent application filed by Axopar, specifically covering the set of forward-mounted gullwing doors.
The improved design appears to be based on an Axopar 37 Cabin model. The new boat has facing couches mounted in a redesigned bow, with a large, flat raised area extending from the back of the aft seat to the cabin.
Diagrams submitted as part of Axopar’s patent application show the boat with a set of gas strut-supported, gullwing-style doors opening to the cabin below.
The design also shows an aft cabin, something that is already available as an option on the 11.2-metre Axopar 37 Cabin, which has a sunbed built into the top of it.
The current boat’s design uses twin flush-mounted Lewmar roof hatches for ventilation.
The new boat design also includes rub rails that sit much lower on the hull than on existing boats, and extending onto the swim platform – something that may have evolved after feedback from existing customers.
