Order books for the Fjord 44 Coupe have opened in Australia even before the craft makes its global debut at Cannes later this month.
Sydney-based eyachts has added the first-ever enclosed-cabin day-boat in the uniquely styled, German-owned Finnish brand’s sportsboat line-up to its pre-orders list. Pricing is expected to be locked in later this week.
The Fjord 44 Coupe is based on the Fjord 44 Open, a targa-topped day-boat featuring accommodation for up to four people. The Coupe version adds an enclosed saloon area featuring almost 360-degree views, a large retractable sunroof, electric retracting side windows, and twin side and sliding rear doors.
The Coupe layout transforms what is essentially a day-boat into an overnight passage craft.
A retracting awning shades the cockpit, while the U-shaped sofa has a lowering backrest and can slide aft by 40cm to give more room to the saloon.
The Fjord 44 Coupe also has undisturbed walkaround deck framed by deep coamings, leading to a daybed forward of the saloon.
Aft a hydraulically activated bathing platform with integrated stairs can lower itself to the waterline, and is rated to carry a tender or power ski weighing up to 300kg.
Powering the Fjord 44 Coupe are twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines, pushing the craft to a top speed of 36kt, just 4kt slower than the circa 1650kg lighter Open version.
Earlier this year, Fjord replaced the Open 42 with the Open 44, moving the optional bathing platform from the options list to the one for standard equipment. The hydraulic “hi-lo” version of the platform, standard on the 44 Coupe, will remain an option for the 44 Open.
The Fjord Coupe 44 is due to have its global reveal at the 2018 Cannes Boat Show, Europe’s largest on-water boat festival, which starts on September 11.
