Mercury says its new SeaPro outboard engines have been designed to provide increased durability and longer engine life in commercial applications.
The 150hp SeaPro is currently being shipped around the world from Mercury’s manufacturing plant in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
The 75hp, 90hp and 115hp engines will become available here in April.
SeaPro engines, with robust high displacement and low-weight design, are said to deliver the performance required by commercial users and to provide increased durability.
"With SeaPro we have taken our newest mid-range FourStroke outboards to the next level of engine durability and fuel efficiency, without sacrificing power, as well as included specific features for commercial users," said Nicholas Webb, Mercury’s Director of Engine Products and Marketing in Australia.
"For example, the new gearcases let you drain the oil without having to remove the boat from the water so servicing costs are lower, and the upper mounts are twice as stiff as those on recreational models to deliver greater durability."
Mercury's larger Command Thrust gearcase, which creates a bigger footprint in the water and increased leverage to control the boat, is standard on the 75, 90 and 115hp SeaPro models.
The Command Thrust's larger 'torpedoes' combined with bigger-diameter props have been designed to lift heavy boats onto the plane more easily and hold them there there at lower speeds without impacting top speed.
Webb said that all SeaPro models feature Mercury’s two-year/1000 hours Commercial Warranty and are backed by the largest service network in the industry. A pictorial owner's manual and pictorial under-cowl maintenance decals also simplify ownership.
SeaPro engines come with a water-separating fuel filter and SmartCraft SC1000 SystemTach gauge to offer the commercial user a complete engine package. Expect to sea the SeaPros on the water in local commercial applications soon.
