
The entire 90-minute start program of this year's Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will be brodcast live to 31 million homes across 45 countries in Asia, the Pacific and the Indian sub-continent.
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has granted the broadcast rights to the Australia Network which will also broadcast the coverage to the Australian troops serving in Afghanistan and other regional areas.
The Australia Network is a mixed-genre channel that broadcasts 24/7 and which showcases the best Australian dramas, documentaries, entertainment, children's and sporting programs. This year it has broadcast the Melbourne Cup, the Tri-Nations rugby series and rugby league's State of Origin series to its target audience.
CYCA commodore Garry Linacre says the club is extremely pleased to bring the start of the famous race and the sport of ocean racing to a large regional audience.
The race will start in Sydney harbour at 1pm on Boxing Day, December 26.
