Forget Jarrod Haynes. Aussie Carl Jocumsen (31) has already scored the touchdowns. Since beating more than 100 of America's best in the 2015 Bassmaster Elite Lake Guntersville tournament in Alabama earlier this year, where he finished sixth, the skilled angler has been followed fervently by his patriotic Aussie and increasingly American fishing fans.
The down-to-earth Aussie from sunny Queensland made history by being the first Australian on the massive US Bassmaster Elite circuit. His fishing skills are exceptional, so too his pro bass-fishing boat.
You can see Carl share some of the tricks on his 2015 Skeeter FX21 with a Yamaha
250SHO in this walk-through video.
Carl has four Top 10 finishes, nine Top 20 finishes, 17 Top 50 finishes and a total weight of 737lbs 1oz from his 35 tournaments fished in the US since 2013. His B.A.S.S Earnings were US$70,513 and he has finished in the money 16 times when we last looked at the stats.
A fitness buff, boxer, crossfitter, hunter and gun angler, Carl has had his ups and downs this year on the Bassmaster circuit — that is fishing after all — but he his last finish was a terrific 10th at the 2015 Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite at Chesapeake Bay held from August 13-16. At one point he was sniffing second spot!
Meantime, Carl posted a nice little video
walkthrough of his pro-fishing bass boat this week. It’s a 2015 Skeeter FX21 with a Yamaha 250SHO and some pretty trick kit including twin Power Poles, Hydrowave fish-attracting sound systems, and hydraulic jacking plates.
Amazingly, Carl has eclipsed some very talented people who have been trying to qualify for the elites for 20-plus years and are still trying to simply qualify. Five years ago, Carl had never even caught a large-mouth bass. Follow the Bassmaster tournament.
The next Elite event is Lake St.Clair. Detroit, Michigan, on August 27. More on Carl at his website http://carljocumsen.com.
