Australian Master Marine (AMM) has debuted its first Halo model centre console.
The AMM 7000 Halo Offshore Centre Console pictured is built on the brand’s proven 7m hull which also features in its family-orientated Tournament and Weekender half cabin models. In this case however, the 7000 has been redesigned to boast the option of below deck storage area.
AMM claims the new design delivers full height headroom and can be optioned to include an electric flushing toilet. The boat also gets a new rigid perimeter hardtop design which reduces obstructions and weight up high.
“Visually, the brilliant white hardtop seems to ‘float’ above the darkened windscreen which is made of toughened glass,” AMM director and boat designer, Barton Thomas stated.
Barton says the Halo brand name is a result of the design.
“The design doesn’t require any rear bracing struts for support and therefore makes the hardtop look like a protective, floating halo… [It] also provides for a more efficient deck area and with less mass and leverage up high, a more stable fishing platform,” Thomas claimed.
Thomas says the new craft pushed the console forward and provides a “more raked, sportier design”. The design also features a sundeck step.
“It’s a fantastic topsides leisure space and enables a massive storage area [underneath], with full standing headroom. It’s now a far better blend of plush comfort and offshore fishing practicality,” Thomas explained.
The 7000 Halo Offshore Centre Console also gets an updated console and helm station feature high-grade seats with folding bolsters. A rigging/work area has been incorporated and underneath AMM offers the option of a slide-out ARB Elements fridge freezer. There is also a full width slide-out lined tackle tray and an aft-facing drop down seat.
To ensure the skipper has complete control, the console has been configured to have the steering wheel on its port (left) side with the throttle assembly in the middle of the console.
“That way the skipper can be directly behind the steering wheel and not offset slightly to the starboard side, in order to be able to access side-mounted console controls,” Thomas explained.
“It gives the skipper and console passenger far better ergonomics as well as a far cleaner and unobstructed line down both sides of the boat – no bumping into important controls when passengers move around,” he stated.
Thomas says matched with a 350hp dual-prop Suzuki V6 four-stroke outboard, the 7000 Halo Offshore Centre Console provides “blistering performance in the chop”.
Top-speed recorded by the AMM demo boat is claimed to have topped 46kt.
“The contra rotating dual props launch it straight on to the plane… and the amount of thrust available in reverse is phenomenal – it makes putting the stern in an exact spot, an ultra-easy exercise,” Thomas stated.
The craft pictured features twin 300 litre fuel tanks underfloor. These replace the single 240 litre underfloor tank that traditionally has been packaged with AMM’s seven metre hulls.
The 7000 also features two underfloor fish boxes each incorporating electric water pumps and macerators “to allow a sea water slurry to be refreshed when transiting fishing spots”.
There is also the option of 300 litre fully insulated underfloor icebox which also has its own integrated electric water pump and macerator.
Other options offered on the 7000 Halo range from a free-fall anchor winch, to a transparent window in the 130 litre live bait tank. The list also features items such as a versatile Fusion sound system which can be Bluetoothed with mobile phones or linked to compatible NMEA backbone sounders and plotters, a special Hella lighting package that includes a new, hardtop-mounted Sea Hawk light-bar and a Sea Hawk work light.
