Amazing jetski motorcycle hybrid: Video

Gibbs high-speed amphibious motorcycles – ride straight into the water and out again

Sick of mucking about with trailers, launching your 'ski', parking your rig, all before you can even get on the water?

Well, worry no more, because New Zealand company Gibbs Sports has just used the American International Motorcycle Expo in Florida to showcase it latest prototype amphibian invention, the Biski.

The Biski is cross between a jetski and a motorcycle and, as the video below attests, it can be ridden straight into the water. At the touch of a button, the wheels retract and the 'bike' becomes a 'ski'!

The Biski is powered by a 55hp twin-cylinder engine and it's capable of 60km/h (34mph) on the water and 130 km/h (80mph) on land, it's makers say.

When you're finished playing in the water, or you've reached you nautical destination, you can simply push the aforementioned button again to lower your wheels and drive up the ramp and onto the road (after donning your helmet, of course).

According to Gibbs, the switch from road mode to water mode is done in less than five seconds, so you barely even lose momentum as you ride in or out of the water.

The Biski has a wet weight of 228kg which is only a few kilograms heavier than a production maxi scooter and it looks to be pretty capable and stable whether on the water or the road.

Sure, it's not going to beat a modern pupose-designed jetski on the water, but imagine the looks on the other riders' faces when you rip straight down the ramp and into the drink!

Let's hope Gibbs can turn it from prototype to reality.
