Seriously cashed-up skippers with a strong yen for exploring the limits of their charts have a new boat to add to their wishlist: the AlfaRosso.
The Francesco Paszkowski Design-penned “explorer yacht” will be avaliable in three sizes – 45, 50 and 55 metres – and made specifically for “an owner who loves long voyages of discovery to remote places”.
“AlfaRosso is a yacht of unmistakable style,” the boat’s builder, CRN, said. “The rigour of her architectural geometries, her crisply defined hull profile, and sharp, clean lines create a sensation of poetry in motion.
“This pairs beautifully with the studied appeal of the open spaces and the exceptional indoor comfort. The stern, lower-deck, and main-deck areas also boast a singular design. Unlike typical explorer yachts, where these are normally technical areas, on AlfaRosso they are designed for guests to savour the sea to its fullest extent.
“The pool, the extensive terraces, and the glorious windows, some from floor to ceiling, offer a panoramic experience that is truly unparalleled.”
Yep, so while those on the AlfaRosso will potentially travel to some of the world’s most amazing and extreme places, life on board will feel just like home.
Unusually, the AlfaRosso’s gunwales are largely replaced with stainless steel rails, opening up more of the view to those enclosed in the spacious interior.
“Power on the water and a sensation of merging with the surrounding space are the keys to this design,” CRN chief commercial officer Stefano De Vivo said.
“AlfaRosso’s sharply defined architectural geometries embrace large indoor guest areas with generous windows that give a strong sense of continuity between inside and outside.
“Remarkable open-air spaces, conceived as grand terraces gazing on to the sea linked by open-step stairs, lend the entire design a sense of gossamer lightness, where the use of teak provides the link between tradition and innovation.”
Those with a lesser budget may instead be lured by the XO Boats Explorer, a 10.3-metre luxury yacht looking more like a black ops stealth cruiser unveiled at September’s Cannes International Boat Show.
Twin 350hp Mercury Verado supercharged outboards help push the XO Boats Explorer to a 30-knot cruising speed, although for a fast getaway the top speed is rated at an eyebrow-raising 49kt.

The AlfaRosso is not the first adventure-filled yacht to come out of the CRN factory. In the early 1980s it launched the F100 “explorer pleasure boat”, a groundbreaking design for its time that established a new class of superyacht that the latest design carries on.
