50ft Riviera recovered

$1.5 million boat stolen from Port Stephens

Marine Area Command, the HQ of the NSW Water Police, was yesterday asking boaters to keep a look out for a 50-foot Riviera with dark blue hull that was stolen on Monday (October 1, 2012) from award-winning Soldiers Point Marina in Port Stephens. The boat’s registration is AGN642N.

According to Facebook feedback, a similar boat was seen on Lake Macquarie. Indeed, it was there, near Toronto, that water police found the boat, which water police say was valued at $1.5 million, tied to a mooring.

Forensic experts were reportedly examining the boat for clues and are investigating CCTV footage to find how the boat was taken from Soldiers Point down Port Stephens, south for about 20 miles, and up Swansea Channel, under the opening bridge, and into the lake.
