This is the first commercial application of the breakthrough Vazer technology, said Savage, and the result is a great looking family day cruiser which is also a sweet-handling boat.
"At Savage, we're running full-steam ahead with the Vazer engine because it adds so much to boats of this size," said Colin Perkovic, Brunswick's aluminium boat group sales manager.
"Just looking at this boat, it looks a lot sleeker and sportier than its predecessors because the outboard is gone, the Vazer is hidden away, and we've been able to add a built-in swim platform which has never been possible before.
"Then there is the improved performance. A sterndrive provides better torque than an equivalent outboard, so there's more pulling power available for tow sports," Perkovic said.
With the super-compact Vazer lowering the centre of gravity, Savage said the 500 Beachcomber Bowrider has superior handling and can 'turn on a dime'.
Like all Savage boats, said the manufacturer, the 500 Beachcomber Bowrider is brilliantly designed and built with its unique Superlift high-performance hull and legendary strength, for an exceptionally dry and smooth ride.
A fully cushioned rear sundeck adds another touch of luxury in a boat which will satisfy swimmers, sunbathers and the tow sport fans in any family, said Savage.
