50 superyachts to star at America’s Cup

Red carpet welcome, front-row seats, regattas and racing for the world’s most glamorous yachts

While the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda starting May 26, 2017, will feature the fastest yachts in its 166-year history — those cutting-edge carbon foiling America’s Cup Class (ACC) cats — the event will also host some of the greatest superyachts in living history.

Adding to the sailing spectacle is a dedicated Superyacht Program that will see the world’s biggest and most beautiful superyachts swan about and race on Bermudan waters.

Privileges will be bestowed upon these sailing elite, with owners lured by front-row seating of the ACC race course, premium berthing at the America’s Cup Village, and experiences and opportunities that, organisers say, money can’t buy.

Special legislation passed by the Bermuda Government for the 35th America’s Cup has enticed superyachts to visit Bermuda.

Brand new marinas have been built at the heart of the America’s Cup Village at Royal Naval Dockyard and at Front Street in Hamilton, the capital city.

Together with marketing support from the Bermuda Tourism Authority, these initiatives have engagde the global superyacht community and put Bermuda on the map for sailing's elite.

SUPERYACHT BERTHS
The original America’s Cup Superyacht Program had 39 berths allocated for superyachts coming into Bermuda from all over the world.

Due to overwhelming demand, that number has been extended to 50 berths and, we hear, the total allocation is now very close to being sold out at the time of writing.

The America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta from June 13-15 has attracted 19 superyachts to the race track including Adela, the 55 metre (pictured) which won the 2013 America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta. Organisers say a long list of inquiries is being assessed for additional entries, too.

THE J CLASS
But the ultimate expression of America’s Cup excess and history is the J Class Regatta. This will take place on June 16, 19 and 20 with some of the most iconic boats in the history of the America’s Cup.

Eight of the nine existing J Class boats have committed to participating in three days of racing presented by Louis Vuitton.

Together, the America’s Cup Superyacht Program, the America’s Cup Superyacht Regatta and the America’s Cup J Class Regatta will create what could be one of the greatest gatherings of the world’s most impressive yachts ever. So very America's Cup.
