The Scout 530LXF will make its highly anticipated debut at the 2019 Miami International Boat Show this week packing what’s believed to be a jaw-dropping punch hanging off the transom – all 2550hp of it.
The big centre console Scout is the biggest boat to come out of the US boat-builder’s factory. To date, though, the long, sleek luxury day boat has only teased that it was capable of hanging up to five Mercury 425 XTO outboard engines out the back.
However, a video teaser dropped ahead of this week’s show reveals the boat that will give us our first close-up look at the already sold-out 530LXF – any orders flowing in now will have to wait until next year – is fitted with six Mercury outboard engines in parallel.
The 530LXF is a specialist luxury day boat. It even has an articulating rod holder, so if you want to run out a shade sail, the rod holder flips horizontal at the press of a button.
Beach platforms to either side of the rear cockpit flip down to create a 5.3-metre wide space for fishing or playing in the water.
The 530 LXF is 16.5m long and 4.51m across the beam. Its maximum performance rating is 2700hp (2013kW), which leaves some wriggle room should Mercury, as anticipated, release a new generation of turbocharged Verado V8s rated at around 450hp.
You don’t want to be paying the fuel bill for all that performance, though, as the tank holds more than 3300 litres.
One of Scout’s own employees probably sums up our feelings. Right at the end of the video, he lets slip one word: “Awesome!”
The 2019 Miami International Boat Show kicks off late this week.
