Riviera has surprised Sanctuary Cove show-goers with the reveal of an all-new flagship sedan model, the Riviera 6800 Sports Yacht Platinum Edition.
The new model sits at the top of the premium sedan line and features some quite advanced enhancements made in response to customer demand for a larger, more user-friendly bluewater cruiser.
In fact, there are a number of firsts for this boat; it’s the first Rivier model to fully embrace lithium-ion battery technology for house duties, the first to extend its hardtop all the way aft to completely cover the cockpit so there is no need for a canvas awning, and the first Riviera to house an amphibious vehicle in its tender garage.
That’s because the garage was designed specifically to house the new Sealegs 3.8TE, a 3.8-metre tender that uses a pair of 3.0kW electric motors to drive itself onshore – a big move from the owner needing to drag the tender ashore.
But back to the Riviera. With the 6800 Sports Yacht Platinum Edition, Rivera Wes Moxey says the Gold Coast-based luxury motor yacht maker has given people” a boat that has tremendous flexibility and opportunity in it”.
That includes options of four cabins below decks, or three cabins and a lounge, a bow thruster that’s being integrated with the twin Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350s, the choice of fins or gyroscopic stabilisers or even both, and more.
The boat on show at Sanctuary Cove was revealed on Wednesday in front of a group of the 27 buyers who have already said they will own a Riviera 6800 Sports Yacht Platinum Edition. One couple even flew in from California just to see what they would one day step aboard.
The Riviera 6800 Sports Yacht Platinum Edition is a global boat. It’s optimised for tall American owners, but as each one is essentially a custom build, it can easily jag to become a boat that’s optimised for an Australian owner.
It follows a lot of the thought behind the Riviera 78, the boatbuilder’s largest model yet, to include features such as a coaming “wing” door so US owners can step out of the cockpit onto a high dock.
Even the swim deck is unique, featuring a set of integrated steps that can lower into the water or rise to match the height of the dock, making life easier for owners.
More to come
