German sailing yacht maker Hanse has teased a new flagship model, the Hanse 590, as it puts a pin in what will grow to become a five-model line-up.
Hanse's new model, suitable for single-handed sailing, features lines drawn in collaboration with Berret-Racoupeau. At the forefront of the design were excellent sailing characteristics and an “enormous volume” that Hanse says has allowed it to build in a high level of comfort.
“From the diverse design options below deck to the extremely spacious owner's cabin and the well thought-out cockpit with plenty of space and freedom of movement,” it said in a statement announcing the Hanse 590.
“From the optional hardtop, the largest in her class, which provides shade and protection when required, to the sun lounge on the foredeck and the large dinghy garage with the smart tender system behind the huge bathing platform.
“The Hanse 590 offers every amenity that is possible in this class.”
The smart tender system appears to be an opening section of the transom that drops down to reveal a tender garage built in under the expansive cockpit floor.
Only two images were released showing the new model, with no real clues about how the Hanse 590’s interior will look.
However, the cockpit looks well-suited to shorthanded sailing with winches set up inboard beside and in front of the twin helm stations, which are pushed right back to the transom. Forward of this is an informal lounge/dining space on either side of a central companionway leading below.
Overhead is a large optional hardtop with what appears to be a retractable section that gives the skipper easy sight of the mainsail while underway but can close up to provide shade while anchored.
Bow and stern thrusters make the Hanse 590 easier to manage in a marina.
Hanse says its signature chines, an elegant silhouette and a reverse bow give the new flagship model a “striking appearance”.
“At the same time, the sophisticated hull design contributes to her stability and performance,” it says.
“Her bowsprit allows her to be optimally sailed at all times, thus ensuring the yacht's optimum performance on the water.”
The Hanse 590 will make its first appearance in a few months ahead of an official world debut at September's Cannes Yachting Festival.
Hanse Yachts, which builds brands including Fjiord and Moody, appears to be gaining strength as a company, earlier this year announcing the business had closed the books on record first-half earnings.
It recently launched the Hanse 390.
