Suzuki Marine has launched its all-new mid-range DF75A outboard engine in Australia, with pricing starting from $13,490 including an alloy prop.
The 156kg 1.5-litre four-cylinder twin overhead cam engine, launched in the US late last year and not confirmed for the Australian market until now, is the lightest in a class that includes the 1.5-litre Honda BF75, 2.1-litre Mercury Fourstroke and the 1.8-litre Yamaha F75LB.
According to Suzuki, the DF75A is “designed for those seeking high-performance and efficient operation on the water” and represents “the perfect blend of power and practicality, taking boating to the next level”.
Similar to other outboard engines in Suzuki’s line-up, the DF75A includes an offset driveshaft and a larger two-stage gear reduction allowing the lower leg to swing a much larger propeller than rivals and providing a better transfer of torque to the water.
The focus also has turned to durability and reliability, with the DF75A built using a one-piece forged crankshaft, an oil-bathed, self-adjusting timing chain and Suzuki’s multi-layer anti-corrosion system to protect against the harsh marine environment.
“Built-in technology such as a self-diagnostics system, oil change reminder system and fuel water detection system helps boaters maintain their DF75A outboard and keep them running strong year after year,” Suzuki said.
A Suzuki multi-function tiller handle kit is available as an option. The engine also has a large-capacity 27.0-amp alternator fitted.
While US buyers will have the choice of either 508mm (20-inch longshaft) or 635mm (25-inch extra longshaft) versions of the DF75A, Australia will offer only the 508mm version.
The outboard engine will be available in both Pearl Nebula Black and Super Cool White, with the white option adding $220 to the price.
The Suzuki DF75A is covered by a three-year manufacturer warranty, with Suzuki Australia extending the cover period by another three years if the engine is maintained at an authorised service centre.
