2023 Sea-Doo line-up goes faster, farther with new model roll-out

Sea-Doo’s 2023 model line-up will include a new performance hero and a capable long-range cruiser

Sea-Doo will add two new models to its line-up as part of a 2023 model year refresh of its jet ski range, including a new performance-honed buoy racer and a hypermiling adventure platform.

The two new models will kick off with the Sea-Doo RXP-X Apex 300, a jet ski teased by Australian Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo earlier this year.

Speculation pointed to the new-look jet ski that Ricciardo was riding as a potential new addition to the Sea-Doo range, which looks to have proven right.

The ski will come with the British racing green-coloured topsides sitting on top of a Graphite Grey T3-R hull, and appears to keep a number of the carbonfibre trim – some decorative panelling, and some, such as around the side mirrors, quite functional – that were teased earlier.

Buyers should also be able to choose between single- and two-seat options for the ski, leaving some wriggle room for owners who do not want to go out alone all the time.

While the Sea-Doo RXP-X Apex 300 is based on the RXP-X 300, the former performance hero of the Sea-Doo jet ski line-up, the new model includes one important change – a hydraulic steering damper that is expected to make holding turns much easier at speed.

The hydraulic damper will come with three settings that the user can adjust on the fly to stiffen up or loosen the steering feedback.

The second jet ski launched this week is the Sea-Doo Explorer Pro 170, an all-new adventure ski that ties in with Sea-Doo’s parent company, BRP, announcing it would open up an all-new adventure centre in North America that would host coastal runs on jet skis.

Underneath, the Sea-Doo Explorer Pro 170 shares much of its build, including the extended ST3 platform, with Sea-Doo’s Fish Pro range of fishing-focussed skis.

However, the touring focus for this jet ski has introduced a number of innovations that Sea-Doo will hope adds to its appeal as a hardcore adventure ski.

This includes a removable windscreen, a thicker bumper bar on the nacelle and tilt-adjust steering.

But the biggest change is to the LinQ-equipped rear deck, which in the Fish Pro range has mounts for an ice box and a small jerry can of extra fuel.

For the Sea-Doo Explorer Pro 170, the rear deck expands to include enough mounts for up to six LinQ attachments, with one of them being an all-new LinQ Explore waterproof bag.

The rest of the Sea-Doo jet ski range appears to remain unchanged from last year.
