The 2023 Melbourne International Boat Show will return to Melbourne’s Docklands for a second year after a successful trial of the new site last year.
The show will also stick to its new spring dates – this year it will run from Thursday, October 26 to Sunday, October 29, almost a month after the AFL Grand Final, the event that unofficially marks the annual kick-off for Melbourne’s fishing season.
The new-look show format was introduced last year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that forced several of Australia’s annual marine industry showcases to delay their running. Some of those events are yet to make a recovery.

More than 25,000 people – starved of a Victorian boat show for the last three years – pre-booked tickets or walked through the gates to attend the free four-day event, held on Melbourne’s Victoria Harbour and featuring an on-water display and static ones cramming almost every available space along the Newquay waterfront.
The event was also worthwhile for new-boat dealerships, who reported good inquiries from potential customers, including a number of them keen to lay down a deposit.
The number of boats on display at last year’s events was down slightly after some exhibitors were unable to attend due to extensive flooding that had swept across parts of Victoria.
