US watersports specialist MasterCraft has rolled out a keel-up redesign of its flagship MasterCraft XT25, introducing a new sport to its wake memory bank and much quieter operation than before.
While much about the XT25 is familiar – MasterCraft didn’t need to reinvent the wheel with this model – there are significant changes under the skin.
One of the big changes is the ballast – the water the MasterCraft XT25 sucks up to help it create the right sized and shaped wakes behind it – which increases from 1270kg to 1450kg despite the MasterCraft XT25 shrinking slightly in length overall compared with that of the model it is replacing.
Also shrinking is the size of the fuel tank, which at around 350 litres is 20 litres less than the boat it replaces.
But the MasterCraft XT25 will stand as the first model in the MasterCraft range to add pre-loaded wake settings for those with the skill and balance to ride a foil board on either side of the boat.
Meanwhile, the MasterCraft XT25 comes standard with an underwater exhaust system that reduces fumes and noise behind the boat, allowing riders and passengers “to further enjoy great tunes and good conversations”.
The new wake boat has adopted MasterCraft’s SurfStar wake-forming system and will come standard with an Ilmor 6.0-litre V8 inboard engine producing 380hp. Owners who will seek a bit more performance can upgrade to the 6.2-litre version of the Ilmor that produces 430hp.
For saltwater enthusiasts, MasterCraft will offer a 365hp 5.3-litre V8 with a closed cooling system.
MasterCraft says it has enhanced the onboard experience with the new XT25.
“For ultimate comfort and functionality on the water, the XT25 offers a U-shaped seating area for up to 18 people, allowing ample space for everyone to relax and enjoy the ride,” it says.
“A larger cockpit, spacious bow with lounge room, and abundant storage options, the XT25 is crafted to maximise your comfort and enjoyment on the water. With optional convertible seats, passengers can enjoy all the action behind the boat.
“Finally, boaters can upgrade their on-water experience with CoolFeel vinyl that stays up to 30 per cent cooler than the standard marine vinyl, keeping families cool and comfortable on even the hottest days.”
The Mastercraft XT25 also takes the next step with technology, integrating its telematics with the MasterCraft Connect App.
“This standard feature on the XT25 allows owners to access critical boat data, including battery and fuel levels, bilge status, and engine health through their mobile devices, while also notifying local dealers of service needs,” MasterCraft says.
“New for 2024, digital switching is now integrated into the MasterCraft Connect app allowing boaters to be able to turn their boat’s battery switch on or off while away from the boat.”
The boat is also more smartphone friendly, featuring four phone holders in the cockpit that can upgrade to include wireless charging. Smartphone integration is also built into the standard six-speaker Klipsch audio system
The helm features a single screen allowing the driver to fill ballast, select preferred wave settings, and control the music. A dual-screen dah featuring a tower camera is optional.
Speaking of towers, the MasterCraft XT25 will have a choice of three; the Z6, Z8 and Z10, which all include standard clamping board racks.
MasterCraft says the XT25 will also have an optional swim step that easily flips down from the swim platform allowing easy entry in and out of the water for everyone aboard.
Australian pricing for the new MasterCraft 25XT is yet to be released.
